Jack in Lord of the Flies by William GoldingThe title says it all, "Lord of the Flies" in Hebrew is Satan. Evil, evil inside all of us. As we can deduce from this title, the book has darker elements in the narrative. This book about kids trapped on an island takes its name from evil incarnate. Once you start reading the book, the title makes no sense, in the first few pages you don't notice sinister hidden meanings and evil behavior from the boys. Yet as you turn the pages, a picture of wild behavior and brutal consequences is created for you. This book explores authority and humanity's need to resort to ferocity when it is lacking. This essay will explore the question, “Is Jack evil when he arrives on the island or does he become evil?” Jack is one of the main characters in the book, he starts out as a traditional authority figure who leads his choir boys along the beach in their robes. “The creature was a group of boys, marching roughly in step in two parallel lines and dressed in strangely eccentric clothing.” “The boy who controlled them was dressed the same even though his cap was gold” From the beginning Jack exerts power over people, we have to take this into account when you look at his behavior later in the book, at the beginning he is a leader, and Ralph takes away this leadership from him, offers him a sign of friendship "The Hunters". This proves to be one of Ralph's biggest mistakes, once Jack controls his choir as a band of hunters, he has absolute power and soon turns them against Ralph., "I should be the leader," Jack said with simple arrogance, "Because they are... .... middle of the card ... and you see the evil of his character: he is always with Jack, always hunting, always ready to kill. The death of two innocents marks the end of the fire, the end of the shell symbol of the meeting. It means the end of the society on the island, the end of the law and the state of justice. In conclusion, I think Golding knew exactly how the boys are, he made us see a compelling story, with vivid realism that tells the story of the disintegration of a civilization be easily undone, which people with more knowledge are sometimes avoided. Above all it tells the story of Jack, a boy transformed into an evil savage, the most shocking of all aspects of the book..
