The practical knowledge that nurses employ to help people who cannot care for themselves sustain their daily activities comes from science. Self-care is engaged in the search for outcomes that allow regulating human functions, such as knowing the balance of body fluids to meet self-care requirements (Denyes 2001). Furthermore, Orem (1980, p.14) urges nurses to continue to practice and increase scientific knowledge for practice. Orem (1980, p.6) believes that nursing is a human service, a necessary action to overcome human limitations. The philosophy underlying nursing actions is humanism. Based on these values, her self-care framework was established to explore the philosophy of nursing (art), what nursing is, why people need nursing, and what the goals of nursing are. nursing care wants to achieve.
