Topic > Early religious traditions: Islam vs. Hinduism

However, the sacred writings of each faith are separate and have no connection to each other. The variations between the sacred texts and the expected behaviors and guidelines of Islam and Hinduism are important for students to learn because the procedures and texts pertain to daily Muslim and Hindu life. Identifying the rules of a religious system and the source of those guidelines provides insight into the individual's underlying culture. A predominantly Hindu or Muslim community will predominantly abide by the standards and regulations of that religion's religious doctrines. The daily behaviors expected of the individual will derive from the teachings of his sacred and divine text. Muslims must pray and worship Allah five times a day, while Hindus have no established guideline of daily behavior. Understanding differences in daily behaviors and practices makes students more aware of the fundamental principles of a religious community. To gain further knowledge and appreciation for Islam and Hinduism, one must finally move on to understanding who each religious system considers to be its own.
