Family pressure and lack of family support are just a few of the many causes why college students worry about their financial situation to attend college. A classmate of mine, Alex, is the youngest child; his father pushes him to attend college because he is the last of his siblings to have the chance to work at a well-paying job. Alex also faces family pressure to achieve a high grade point average in hopes of obtaining insurance benefits and other expenses. However, he still lacks financial support for his college education. Even if Alex received financial help from his family, he would still feel pressure to get a job to reduce the stress of making ends meet. I also face similar challenges to Alex, in my situation I had a lack of support. My mother is a single parent with a high school diploma which is her highest level of education. With the lack of financial income that comes from having to rely solely on my mother's income, she wanted me to start working to help her pay bills and other outstanding expenses. He understands why I'm getting a college education, but he also knows that working with me full time can help relieve our financial stress, which if we attend college will only add to our ongoing expenses. Putnam states in the book Our Kids: “To be sure, less educated parents, with narrower cultural horizons and less familiarity with advanced education,
