The increase of development of technology and human race, people have failed to take care of the environment they live in. Therefore, most of the people have polluted the environment thus reducing the quality of the place which can be harmful for them. Although there are different aspects of pollution, such as soil, air and water pollution, which can be detected visually and by taste. Air pollution caused by certain gases cannot be detected as it is odourless, tasteless and colourless. Some gases are useful in our daily life. It makes our daily life easier and saves time. Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) is one of the most common alternative fuels used in the world today. It is a mainstay for heating and cooking in Malaysia. LPG gas is a fossil fuel, like oil and natural gas. It can be refined from oil and natural gas in the same way that gasoline is refined from crude oil (Grabianowski, 2005). There are two main types of LPG: butane and propane. They are used in their pure form for testing purposes only and are supplied as commercial butane or commercial propane, which are mixtures of gases with other gases added to improve operating characteristics (Treloar, 2010). The advantages of LPG gas are that most propane comes from domestic sources, less expensive than petrol and potentially less toxic, with emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2), carbon monoxide (CO) and non-methane hydrocarbons (NMHC). The combustion gas involves a chemical reaction. It will produce heat when the gas reaction turns into a new compound. A compound is a substance with more than one type of atom (Senese 2010). Combustion byproducts enter buildings and homes directly from the use of unvented kerosene and gas heaters, gas fireplaces, gas stoves, internal use of heat... paper medium... acts similarly to a microcontroller unit. It is an open source electronic prototype platform based on flexible and easy-to-use hardware and software, with high performance and special features. Further explanation about this unit will be discussed in chapters 2 and 3. For the detection circuit system, there is MQ-2 which is used to detect two types of gases: liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and flue gas. The system outputs are LED and exhaust fan. Global System for Mobile Technology (GSM) will be used as the communication system to send alerts to the authorized person. For software programming, it will be classified into two, namely: i. Adruino Programming ii. GSM ProgrammingThe Arduino software is used to write programming for the Arduino board's microcontroller. While GSM programming will use certain libraries to allow the system to send the alert to the mobile phone.
