In today's society, technology has become more of a necessity than a way to make life easier. Computers are a perfect example of how technology has spread into many American households in a relatively short span of time. Nowadays, computers are used daily by people for reasons such as communication, business, education, finance, entertainment and general information. Unfortunately, not every American household contains one of these helpful tools. Over 44 million families in the United States could be considered lost and no longer part of the information web due to the lack of a computer in the home. Several factors that help determine whether or not a household has a computer are the type of household, the size of the household, the time period, and the household's income. Another factor that can determine whether or not a family has a computer is the status of the family.
