When I was younger, my father was an avid diver, going out on the dive boat every weekend possible to take photographs while dragging my mother and me for the trip. I wasn't one to complain though, because it meant going to the beach almost every weekend during diving season. The photographs he took underwater are what really inspired me to, I hope, get involved in marine science. The photographs were captivating; the different shades of blue and variety of colors emitted by the various organisms captured in the photo were simply breathtaking. I didn't understand how anyone could look away from them, and I still don't understand how people could look away from photos like that. They allowed me to see some of the organisms that lived underwater; giving me a glimpse into another world and a world I only wanted to explore on my own
