The purpose of voir dire is to eliminate people who may have personal ties to the trial or have biases that may influence the trial. The prosecution and defense each selected people to serve on the jury. The aim is to choose twelve impartial people with different backgrounds. (Minow, 2015). Once selected, the jury is placed under oath and given specific instructions for the trial in which they will serve on the jury
