Bullying today can be quite serious. Bullying is when someone tries to hurt another person by hitting them or simply hurting them with their words. Bullying is something that can have a huge impact on its victims. It could be something that lasts a lifetime or something that could cause them to take their own life. Bullies form small groups so they can pick on other students who are small, fragile, and can't defend themselves. Picking on someone should not be accepted because it can affect a person's well-being drastically. Bullying is believed to be a normal part of school life. However, when people start to have this mentality, they forget that bullying is psychologically and physically harmful to both the victim and the bully. Bullying is not a growing crisis. The real problem we have is overprotective parents who always seem to care for their children in an overly reactive way. If it weren't for their parents, many children would have already committed suicide because they would have no one to care for them. Some high school students are verbally abused once or twice a day, a good example would be, “I'll kill you, dog,” Marcy hissed every time I passed” (Skolnik 76-79). Every day at least one student is verbally abused , most people stand by because they don't want to be the next victim. As bullying has become a daily struggle, some states are adopting anti-bullying laws. “Forty-five states now have anti-bullying laws in Massachusetts; .... middle of paper......an Girls” “Soon Stacie found herself wincing every time she walked into a meeting, turned in an assignment, or even just saw her boss walking towards her.” (pg. 118-142).Moninger, Jeannette“Warning: Bullies at Work; Mean Girls”“”I was sitting at my desk in my cubicle, and suddenly she was standing over me screaming, 'What the hell is this? shit? And why is it so late?' I tried to say that I thought I had done exactly what she asked, but she cut me off and yelled at me about how incompetent I was"" (pp. 118-142).Skolnik, Deborah"School Years for Parents; Bully Backlash "" "I'll kill you, dog," Marcy hissed every time I passed."
