Topic > Essay on Bollywood and Hollywood - 1996

The soundtracks of Indian films are very different from those found in Hollywood films. Hollywood movies consist mostly of underscores, unless the movie is a musical and has songs attached to the soundtrack. Bollywood is India's Hollywood and is very big compared to Hollywood. Bollywood, on the other hand, has soundtracks that mostly consist of songs. Indian film soundtracks are considered filmi or masala films. Bollywood still has the underscore character when a song is not performed. Many times during the songs, the singers are not in the scene but dub the scene with their own voices. These songs are the strength of Bollywood and have caused a lot of diversity. Bollywood and Hollywood both have their own unique characteristics and sometimes they start to intersect. Films like “Slumdog Millionaire” had a huge impact on the combination of the two major film industries. Many times religions such as Hinduism are depicted in films, but emotions are also depicted. Bollywood is older than Hollywood, but only by 11 years. Even though over 1000 films are produced in Bollywood, only 15-25% of the films prosper and the rest fail. This still produces over 3-4 billion viewers, surpassing Hollywood in 2004. The first Hollywood production came out in 1910 while the first Bollywood production was in 1899. This created an increase in film studios, which in turn increased the amount of soundtracks generated for films. This push took place around the 1930s. These Bollywood films are often called masala films and contain overly dramatic plots, costumes, costumes and flashy settings, along with songs and dances. The film, "Indra Sabha", contains the largest number of songs in a Bollywood film with 71 songs......middle of paper......les, India rajas and castles. Both had their times of medieval music which is still used today to represent those times. Indian epics have played an important role in the production of popular music. They produce different forms of drama, dance and song. Much of the influence on different musical styles comes from Indian religions. Many tools are believed to have a divine origin, because many gods and goddesses are depicted holding a tool. Hindu gods like Hold Ganesha holds the conch, Hold Vishnu holds the damru and Lord Krishna holds the chimney. Bollywood has its own difference, but it is one of a kind. Different areas of India have different cultures which have a huge impact on Indian music. Not only cultures, but also religions have influenced music. The mix between East and West will be the future of industries.
