This article will focus on the views of two influential nursing theorists, who have helped provide nurses and the public with information about their understanding of each of the four concepts that constitute the nursing metaparadigm. Through exploring Roy's holistic approach to nursing and Leininger's cultural approach to nursing, I will be able to conclude my findings and produce a nursing philosophy that is unique to my ideas, values, and beliefs on what the nursing metaparadigm represents. for me. The first nursing concept we will focus on is that of person. Roy provided a general framework that allows for a basic understanding of the metaparadigm. Roy's view of the person, as stated in the Roy Adaptation Model (2009), is as follows: "An adaptive system with cognatory and regulatory subsystems that act to maintain adaptation in four adaptive modes: physiological - physical, self - concept - group identity, role function and interdependence” (p. 12). Leininger also made a notable contribution, but above all for having incorporated the importance of culture in making a person unique; this is particularly true regarding his involvement in theory of diversity and universality of cultural care states the following: The term culturally congruent care was coined by the theorist in the early 1960s culture that are congruent or significant for cultures and that influence people's ways of life. The theory focuses on the identification of care values, beliefs, lifestyles and symbolic referents linked to the cultural phenomena of care that impact. on congruent treatment factors. The goal of the theory is to discover culturally...... the medium of paper...... has the ability to change a person in an instant and I find it difficult to summarize the role of the environment in a single sentence. However, I believe my definition will be helpful in evaluating a client to fully understand the circumstances surrounding them in everyday life. For example, poor socioeconomic status could lead to inadequate living conditions and this could affect their health status. To conclude, by comparing and evaluating Roy and Leininger's opinions on the four concepts of the nursing metaparadigm and taking into consideration my previous ideas on each, I have been able to formulate my own nursing metaparadigm philosophy on person, health, nursing and environment. Not only was I able to do this, but I was able to create definitions that can positively contribute to my current education and future nursing career.
