The President and the media have always had an interesting relationship, especially when considering their respective relationships with the public. The President leads the country and the media should report how and how well the President is fulfilling that obligation. In most cases this is exactly what happens, but in other cases the journalist's personal thoughts color the presentation of the information. Different media outlets can report on the same event, but each can come up with a unique story depending on how the author frames it. This is the case with articles about President Obama on Thursday, February 6, 2014 and Friday, February 7, 2014. Major media outlets such as the New York Times, ABC News, CNN, The Wall Street Journal and TIME Magazine have reported similar issues, but their presentation of the stories differed. This disparity existed during Franklin D. Roosevelt's tenure, but to a lesser extent. The relationship between Roosevelt and the media is different than that of Obama and our current media. On February 6, 2014, the five major media outlets, The New York Times, ABC News, CNN, The Wall Street Journal, and TIME Magazine, had twenty-one stories directly implicating President Obama. At least two of the stories were simple opinion pieces, while some of the others may contain kernels of the authors' opinions. The stories followed: Seven of the day's stories involved President Obama, First Lady Michelle Obama and Vice President Joe Biden attending the National Prayer Breakfast. Five of those stories mentioned President Obama talking about the United States encouraging religious tolerance abroad.
