But like an exception to every stereotype, my experience with a human-animal relationship is also an exception. When I was twelve, I received a couple of kittens as a birthday present. I've never been an animal lover so I wasn't too thrilled to receive this. But as the days passed, spending time with them developed a soft corner for them. The more time I spent with them, the more I became a founder and inseparable from them. After a while it was such that if I was at home, the cats would follow me wherever I went. Just like Stickeen who “was sure to be on his tail, as long as I didn't go out” (par. 7). Every time I pulled into the driveway, no matter where they were, they would run out to greet me.
