Topic > Of all the systems of oppression explored so far in this course, which ones do you feel you understand best or identify with most? Of all the systems of oppression I am referring to, there is gender oppression. As a child, my father would get angry when I didn't act like a little girl. Instead I was a tomboy. I played sports with the boys, climbed trees, watched football, baseball and wrestling. I had Barbie dolls but I preferred playing with toy cars. What analogies can you draw between transgender oppression and that system? In both systems, society dictates how the systems should “work.” For example, women should behave like women by wearing makeup, dressing, staying at home with children and cleaning, while men should behave like men by dressing like men, not acting like a "sissy", being strong and fearless and above all not wear makeup and dress like a woman. Like other systems, gender and transgender are discriminated against. What aspects of the systems are not analogous? I have to say that transgender oppression receives more discrimination than gender
