During high school I spent a lot of time focused on deciding my career path. It was obvious from the beginning that I would never go into teaching or nursing like the other girls in my graduating class. I wanted a career that was both interesting and exciting and that allowed me to have unique experiences. It wasn't long before I decided on forensic anthropology. I often get shocked looks followed by “what is that?” when I tell someone the career path I have chosen. Even though I intentionally chose a unique career, it frustrates me to have to explain over and over what forensic anthropology is. It is this frustration that led me to decide to write my final article on the topic. I will provide an overview of forensic anthropology to explain the different aspects of that career and explore the topic to my advantage.
