Topic > Abortion vs. Abortion - 1095

Abortion is a sensitive topic for most people and is something that most would prefer to avoid discussing. Being pro-life or pro-choice is a decision that has a lot to do with an individual's beliefs. I think abortion is something that in my mind is situational. I am pro-life and pro-choice. I believe everyone has the right to make this decision, but I believe killing a child is wrong. Science is a great place to start when talking about abortion, the discussion of when a fetus is truly a baby is brought up in almost every abortion debate. Being pro-life is a choice made by many. Being pro-life would mean that a person does not believe in the death penalty any more than they would believe in aborting an unborn child. This is not true for most people, however, when you think of a man or woman who has killed most people would think that the death penalty is fine, but when you talk about an unborn child the situation changes . This is why I believe every situation is different. It is said that aborting a baby does more harm than good. It could cause physical and psychological harm to the woman, as well as kill a child [Ziegler, 2013]. The question of when a fetus actually becomes a baby is something that has been studied for years. Some believe that as soon as the woman is pregnant the baby becomes a living organism and is considered a baby, others believe that it is not a baby until it has a beating heart. Some medical professionals say that a fetus is a child when it is treated separately from the mother. When the doctor does something exclusively for the child, then it is an “unborn child” [McCullough et al, 2013]. Who do you save if you can choose between the unborn child or the mother? This in my opinion is... middle of the paper... choosing should not be an option unless it endangers the mother's health. Time and again the mother uses the fact of not knowing who the father is as a way to eliminate complications. This makes it difficult for a law to be truly effective if one were adopted. It is the mother's body and 9 months of her life, but she has made this mistake and must live with it if the father is willing to assume all the rights and responsibilities of this child [Williams, 2013]. As you can see, everything is situational. If you were presented with these individual situations, I think your thoughts on abortion would change. I am not one-sided about abortion and I think it is a huge and difficult decision for anyone to make. I hope that when someone makes this decision, they consider all the options and really think about the situation they are in and how it would affect their unborn child..
