Outer space according to Dictionary.com is defined as "the physical universe outside the Earth's atmosphere". Throughout humanity's entire existence we have always wondered what was out there. The moon is an object that many people have always analyzed. The moon is scanned in 3 aspects. These aspects include facts, including theories about the formation of the moon, the great space race, and whether or not the first moon landing was a hoax. The moon is probably the most noticeable object outside the Earth's atmosphere other than the sun. There are a large number of facts about the moon. Most of these facts include the size and distance of the Moon from the Earth. The proper name of our moon is "Moon". The Moon is 238,900 miles from Earth and 27% smaller than Earth. The Moon is the most studied object outside the Earth's atmosphere. The Moon is the only naturally created object that humans have set foot on other than Earth. There are five basic theories about the formation of our Moon. The first is the "fission theory" which states that the Moon was once part of the Earth, but separated long ago. The second theory is called “capture theory”. This theory says that the Moon formed somewhere else and was "captured" by the Earth's gravitational pull. The third theory is called "condensation theory", this theory states that the moon and earth were doomed together by the original nebula that formed our solar system. The fourth theory called “Colliding Planetesimals Theory” states that the interaction between the Earth orbiting the Sun and the Planetesimals orbiting the Sun, which are large Astroid-like rocks, led to the breakup and formation of our Moon from the debris of these planetesimals. The fifth and final theory is called… half of the article… Choi, C. (2013, June 21). Earth's Moon: formation, composition and orbit.
