The Hashoo Foundation is an organization that works in the area of ​​development by improving people's living conditions by fueling socio-economic development programs. It was founded in 1988 and operates in all 5 provinces of Pakistan. The Hashoo Foundation is also registered as a non-profit organization in the United States, Tajikistan and the United Kingdom. Economic development, education, skill development, humanitarian assistance and relief are some of the main programs of Hashoo Foundation. The organization has thrived across all programmes, winning the BBC's 2008 World Challenge Award, particularly for the 'Plan Bee' project, which was highly praised for its sustainable and innovative approach towards women's economic empowerment. The founder of the foundation, The Hashwani Family, has been known for her philanthropy for six generations. The inception of Hashoo Foundation in 1988 was an effort to keep this tradition alive by the President, Mr. Sadruddin Hashwani. The establishment of the Hashoo Foundation was followed shortly by the establishment of two other charities. Umeed e noor was the first of two projects launched in 1994 with the aim of providing quality educational and therapeutic services to special children. The second project was started five years later in 1999 under the name HOAP (Helping the Downtrodden and Powerless), which worked for skill development, social welfare and education of the society. These three organizations were merged to form a single unit in 2007. In response to this need, the boards of directors of the US, UK and Pakistan have introduced some new members/directors. This change has led to some important developments in the attempt to reorganize the foundation's governance. These developments have led to the clarification of relationships between chapters by initiating and strengthening reporting lines and ensuring effective strategic governance and member ownership.
