Carl Friedrich Gauss was born in Braunshweigh, Germany, now Lower Saxony Germany, where his parents lived and were considered a rather poor family at the time. His father held many jobs as a gardener and many other trades including: a merchant's assistant and treasurer of a small insurance fund. While her mother, on the other hand, was a fairly intelligent but semi-literate person, and before marrying her husband she was a housekeeper, the only reason for marrying him was to resign because she was tired of it. She was very unhappy in the marriage, trying her best to put the unhappiness behind her, so that she could ensure that Carl always had her loving, devoted attention and support in whatever she did and was sure to succeed. Carl himself achieved many successes during his lifetime. life that began at all ages. For example, when he was young he would calculate when his birthday would be as his mother never wrote it down or had it recorded. All he remembered was that “He was born on a Wednesday, eight days before the Feast of the Ascension, which falls forty days after Easter (Wikipedia).” Carl solved this puzzle by finding the date of Easter and then used the methods he had devised to encrypt the date in both past and future years. Until he finally solved the puzzle of his birthday and concluded that he was born on April 30, 1777. Even as a boy, in elementary school, he had many surprising intellectual discoveries, at least for a boy of his age, as when his teacher, Mr. Buttner, to punish him for his inappropriate behavior, gave him a task that he thought would take up most of the lesson. Her task was to add all the numbers up to one hundred on her blackboard in an arithmetic program... in the middle of the paper... her attention so that she did not have to concentrate on other things. His life was filled with hard work and many successes. Home life for him was never the best, but he overcame it and even though some of it was his fault, he never let it happen to him. He was always ready for the next success in life until the end. Works Cited Allen, James. “Carlo Friedrich Gauss”. Fabpedigree. Np, nd Web.
