Although it is not the love story that most people would expect, it illustrates how even though perhaps there is not yet a happy ending, that doesn't mean it isn't right around the corner. The film can also be seen as a coming of age as its main characters ultimately find each other despite the obstacles they faced. (500) Days of Summer is interesting, comedic, but overall shows the everyday obstacles such as falling in and out of love, finding the person you truly are, and always allowing fate to take control of every situation.
