The third and new New York City Hall was built in Lower Manhattan between Broadway and Park Row and is surrounded by a beautiful park. It was built and designed from 1803 to 1812 and is highly regarded for its stunning architecture. It is renowned for its exterior structure, often called the "soaring rotunda" and soon its design became the designated landmark of New York City. In 2010, a rehabilitation project was organized to preserve the building by solving its structural problems. Thanks to the support of some private donors, an energy-efficient heating and cooling system, a fire safety system and new electrical services have been installed to match the standard of today's building. The City Hall portrait collection is a key and historically important part of the building, including more than 100 paintings of U.S. presidents, New York mayors, members of the Army and Navy, and some notable political leaders. .
