Topic > Abortion is murder - 1290

The topic of abortion is an extremely controversial issue in today's society, there are many separate points of view on its morality. Abortion is defined as the deliberate termination of a human pregnancy (“Abortion”). In other words, it is the murder of an unborn child. There have been several abortion-related court cases in the past in an attempt to resolve the debate. For example, Roe v. Wade held that unborn children are neither “persons” nor entitled to the same constitutional protection as unborn children (“Roe V. Wade”). However, Roe v. The most important issue in the abortion debate is deciding whether the fetus is a human being or not. Many pro-choice advocates might argue that abortion is not actually murder because a fetus is not a human being, which is what the Constitution protects. For pro-choice advocates it is nothing more than a mass of tissue in a woman's womb. In fact, a fetus isn't even close to that. What makes abortion murder is the fact that a fetus is a human being from the moment of conception (Jones 2) and murder is the deprivation of an individual's human life. Conception marks the beginning of the development that is part of the life of every human being and continues as the individual ages and matures.
