For the community program review, I choose to review a local child care center in my hometown of Orange, New Jersey. This childcare center is run by Mrs. Ester Laurent and her assistant director, Mrs. Monica Saenz. However, the building and the center are owned by Mrs. Laurent and her sister. Ms. Laurent holds a bachelor's degree in education and a state certification in early childhood education. Mrs. Laurent and her employees have a good relationship with each other, although some more than others. They are ready and willing to work from the moment they walk in the door until the moment they leave, again some are more available than others. Laisey Academy is part of a state-certified program that serves families who are part of state-funded programs, where they provide assistance to low-income families who need child care due to work, job training and/or school attendance. Although it is funded by the state, there are parents who pay for childcare at the center out of their own pocket or a combination of both. However, even though it is a state-funded program, the employees are not paid by the state, but by the owner of the center. The purpose and function of the center is to provide childcare assistants and services to those who live in the neighborhood. like those who are helped by the government. They provide childcare to children aged between three months and four and a half years in the hours of 6am to 6pm. They also serve as an aftercare academy for children between the ages of five and thirteen. Where they have parents' permission to accompany their children from school to the academy headquarters. They are responsible for providing children with a healthy snack... middle of paper... ey Academy is an excellent childcare center that meets the basic needs of the children who attend and beyond. From learning different languages, to healthy meals and learning to help each other. All children who walk through their doors are treated with the care and affection they deserve. What struck me most was an event that happened on the last day I was there. Earlier that week the children were learning to sing different nursery rhymes in different languages, and when one little girl began repeating the song in French on the morning of my last day, all the children were able to repeat and sing the nursery rhyme without any help from an adult. This was impressive not only because the children were able to repeat a song they had learned just four days earlier, but also because the center always makes sure to embrace their students' cultures in different ways.
