I liked playing basketball; I started playing when I was two years old. When I was twelve I learned that I would need orthopedic surgery to remove an osteochondroma. I always told myself, “It's no big deal, just deal with it.” Unfortunately I had to undergo several surgeries over the next twelve to eighteen months to completely control the problem. Foot surgery and rehabilitation are difficult due to the weight of the body and the stresses the body places on the feet. Recovery was slow and I missed several weeks of school and many social activities. I couldn't play basketball during this time and before the third surgery I hadn't played basketball, without even touching a ball, for nine months. I think the hardest part of the ordeal was not being able to do the normal things we all take for granted like running, walking, jumping, going to the beach or just hanging out with friends. On the bright side, I had an excuse to play a lot of Xbox and avoid having to wear it
