There are many skills and attributes one must possess to be an exceptional educator. To be an exceptional teacher you must seek growth in your students, challenging them to push beyond what they already know with confidence. Encouraging students when they feel discouraged about their goal is vital in the classroom. While these are just two of the many important attributes a teacher must possess, I would like to tell you further about the skills of an effective teacher. In the following paragraphs you will learn the three most important skills that I believe are essential in a classroom; classroom management, students engaging in cooperative learning, and implementing multiple intelligence theory. Classroom management is critical to promoting effective teaching while allowing students a structured environment for active learning. I believe this skill is essential when leading a classroom and will, as a result, improve organizational flow throughout each school day. Forming a joint democracy allows students to own their classroom by creating an environment where students feel in control. This can easily be done by setting expectations for the entire class. For example, creating classroom rules with the whole class gives students a sense of empowerment, thus feeling freer to follow the rules created by "them". Additionally, students must understand what is expected of them and stay true to established standards. The ability to successfully create an environment where students know their expectations begins in the first days of school. Expectations are clearly stated with appropriate consequences for each fracture. These expectations need to be reinforced every day in the middle of the paper. This theory will be present daily in my classroom. In summary, to be an exceptional educator one must be amenable to change for the greater good of their students. They must adopt a student-centered approach to their teaching styles; willing to learn and evolve to meet the individual needs of their students. The strategies mentioned in this passage are few compared to what an educator should possess to manage a classroom successfully. Classroom management, cooperative learning, and the use of multiple intelligence theory are three key features of my classroom learning environment. Thomas Carruthers once said, “A teacher is one who progressively makes himself superfluous.” With classroom management, cooperative learning, and the use of multiple intelligence theory, I believe students will continue to take control of their learning independently.
