Sugar is used as a villain in this movie and is really used to explain all of our obesity problems. In my opinion this goes too far, because after studying sugar consumption and obesity rates, I have found that there is actually no convincing correlation between sugar and obesity. Sugar consumption has actually declined in recent years, while obesity rates continue to rise. This is not stated in the film but is instead ignored and covered up with other meaningless facts about sugary products. The real reason for obesity that should have been mentioned more is calorie consumption and calorie quality. Not once in the film did they make a distinction between bad calories and good calories. In fact, during the film they talked about how if you eat so many calories, you have to burn almost all of them. It would be ideal if you ate all junk food, but what if we thought responsibly and ate the same amount of calories as healthy foods? The movie generalizes all calories and essentially ignores personal responsibility
