This objective is based on the assumption that there was some factor at play in why the crime was committed in the first place, and that factor can be solved or eliminated. There are many different approaches to rehabilitation, including therapy, education, or a combination of the two. Generally the rehabilitation process begins by addressing the problems that led to the criminal behavior, and then helping inmates find other ways to resolve those problems that do not include criminal behavior.
