1.) Have you noticed any patterns in your interviews. I found that each person responded "good" when I asked how it felt to be their age. I found it fascinating that everyone seemed happy at their age. However, when I asked the question of what age they would like to be, everyone would like to be a different age. Everyone wished they were older for various reasons, except the 65-and-older person I interviewed, who wished they were younger. I thought it was interesting because they all seemed happy and felt good about the age they currently are, but they also wish they were a different age. I wonder if we all think the grass is greener on the other side? Maybe as human beings we are happy, but we always want something better in our lives. Maybe we think that a different age would make our life better. For example, the respondent in the 3-16 age group wanted to have more freedom in choosing not to attend school. The interviewee in the age group of 17 to 34 years wanted to live away from home and do what she wanted with her friends. The next age group, 35 to 65, wanted retirement. So, the respondent in the age group of 65 years and above, wanted to be at an age with better health. Another pattern I found was that each person I interviewed was developmentally adapted to their age group. As people answered simple questions, I compared them to what I imagine other people in their age group would and wouldn't like to do. As a result, most of the activities that I think people in their age group would be interested in corresponded to the hobbies of the interviewees. 2.) What surprised you most during your interviews? I think every... half of paper ......erent. When I looked at the homework questions, I thought that even though they were different ages, I thought they would answer many questions the same way. However, I was wrong. I learned a few things with this assignment. I've found that I shouldn't assume that everyone will have similar answers. Another thing I discovered was that I wasn't stereotyped. Even if everyone's answers fit my vision of what someone in their age group would do, I shouldn't assume that all people their age would want to do the same things in life. We all have different perspectives and interests in life and that's what makes us all unique. I know an 80 year old lady who loves cycling, swimming and playing on the beach in the sand with her great grandchildren. Therefore, I have to think about my stereotype of what I think people of each age group should do.
