There are many who understand the church as a building. It is not the biblical understanding of the church. The word church comes from the Greek "Ecclesia" which means "assembly" or "those who are called". The deeper meaning of "church" is not a building, but people. Ironically, if you ask someone what church they attend, they will say Baptist, Methodist, Catholic, or another denomination. People often refer to a building or denomination Read Romans 16:5: “Greet also the church that assembles in their house.” home, not a building, but a group of believers. The Church is the Body of Christ Ephesians 1:22-23 says, “Yes, he has put all things under his feet, and has given above all things to the head. the Church which is his body, the fullness of Him who fills it completely." The Body of Christ is made up of all believers from Pentecost until the end-time Rapture. The notion of the Catholic Church is present in most Christian denominations. : Catholic, Orthodox, Protestant and particular Anglican The word "Catholic" comes from the Greek meaning καθολικός "universal". The term began to be used to describe the Church in the early 2nd century. It is also found in the Niceno-Constantinople of 381 adopted and proclaimed: "I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic". This profession of faith which is the symbol of the greatest apostles of the primitive Church has been the creed of all liturgies for centuries, so that Christians of all Churches, even at the beginning of sectarian divisions, declare that they believe in the Catholic Church, independently by whether or not their religion is explicitly designated as "Catholic" in common usage or in official texts, if all... middle of paper...I believe the Council intends to develop the doctrine of the last Popes on the inviolable rights of human person and on the legal order of society" (DH 1, 3). The need for religious freedom is therefore addressed to the State. According to Catholic teaching, the Church not only has limited autonomy in the State, but also a sovereignty in its own dominion. This is a consequence of its foundation by Christ, of its character as the people of God. After the secularization of the State which has occurred in modern times, it seems extremely dangerous that the freedom and identity of the Church are treated within the state as a public law structure of the state. Peaceful separation of the state and cooperation on an equal footing with it can best correspond to the theological nature of the Church.
