The differentiation of Chraibi's novel from other traditional works is due to the fact that Chraibi emphasizes the love between Muhammad and his wife Khadija. In the story Chraibi applied phrases from the Quran praising God to inform the love and appreciation Muhammad has for Khadija. Take this sentence for example: “When I was an orphan, you gave me refuge. As I wandered, you showed me the way. You found me poor and made me rich” (61). Muhammad didn't say it out loud, but it was exactly what he felt. In reality the fact that he did not praise him in words also implies that the love and appreciation are kept at a rather spiritual level of the mind, that is, much more than what we are able to express verbally.
