Topic > Politics and Policy: The Influence of Political Opinions

I only recently became interested in politics, after studying civics and economics as a sophomore in high school in the 2010-2011 school year. Even then I still didn't have a fixed footprint in the political world, I simply gathered more and more knowledge from teachers and colleagues. While my first political experience actually had nothing to do with people in government, Chavaun vividly remembers the time when former President Bill Clinton was in office. That's when she really got into politics and learned that her opinion really matters. At the time I was too young to vote and didn't really understand how politics worked; I still don't fully understand it. I first said that my first memory of politics was when I was doing civics and economics, but that's when I first learned about it. Now I would say my earliest political memory was when I joined the National History Scholars Society my senior year; In a way I understood politics more and was responsible for several mock elections and also worked at the polls. Even though I wasn't old enough to actually vote, I took part in mock elections, read about many candidates, and had the opportunity to talk to people of different backgrounds and politics.
