Topic > The Road Not Taken, by Robert Frost - 926

In Robert Frost's poem “The Road Not Taken” personification is used through the symbolization of roads. Frost's metaphorical embodiment of the two roads is reflected as paths, journey, and even as an adventure in life. He describes the decision that people have to make in their lives as he had to do, when he found himself having to choose between two paths to take in his life. The poem amplifies Frost's life and decisions. The poem is addressed to all people who find themselves at the crossroads of life, where they must decide between two paths to follow. The paradox is when Frost regrets choosing one path rather than another because he loses all his possibilities. However, he chose the best path even though he counteracts it when he realizes that both paths are essentially the same. Frost also uses an antithesis such as how he can't go both ways, even if he wants to. Frost's personification of the two roads symbolizes people's thoughts and feelings towards life and the road they should choose to cross. His incarnation is described through the two paths, when he began to regret that he cannot walk the two paths together because he is only one person. He reflects on his spirituality and the fact that people always wonder if there is more than one path to take in life. Just as the path chosen by Frost can be ‎‎“herbaceous and refined” (574), so can a person's thoughts be. The path he chose is good, but it is also the same as the other path. Frost contrasts the two paths from the beginning of the journey, which signifies the crossroads in a person's life when deciding which direction to go. Frost wishes he could go both ways, but he knows he can't. He tried to look at what's at the end of the road. So, he tried to choose which... middle of paper... his life. It states that paths in life can be the same and each has positive and negative characteristics. Frost used the metaphor of a traveler going into the woods and needing to decide which path to follow when he comes to a crossroads. Similarly, in life a person needs to decide which path to take when trying to choose the best one. However, no one can really know which is best. It reflects on people's dilemmas in their daily lives when they need to decide on all kinds of things. A person can assume what is best for him, but he will not know unless he goes through all the avenues that are possible for him. Unfortunately, it is impossible, as Frost describes in his poem. His belief that one path is better than the other shows his emotions about his life and his regrets, to some extent, about the path he didn't take.. ‎
