Hewlett-Packard is one of the most innovative companies in today's modern world. They specialize in building and manufacturing computer software, hardware, and networking devices, but the main manufacturers in their production lines are personal computers and a large amount of printers. In addition to producing information technology, they are also involved in various military contracts that help the United States with its defense systems and infrastructure. As a result, how do these contracts help our country's military progress and why have we developed a partnership with this private company to build numerous long-term contracts? In this article, I intend to inform you about the Hewlett-Packard company and how their help to the military advanced the United States and its war efforts in fighting around the world. Dave Packard and Bill Hewlett attended Stanford University near Palo Alto, California in the early to late 1930s and both majored in electrical engineering. After graduating, they decided to put their minds together and produce electronics. Their first product developed was the "audio resistance-capacitance oscillator" in 1938, used to control audio equipment for the Walt Disney Studios. As soon as their first product was launched on the market, they decided to establish the company Hewlett-Packard or HP in Dave Packard's garage with an initial capital investment of 538 US dollars. But before the company was called “Hewlett-Packard,” both Dave and Bill tossed coins in the air to decide who would get their name in the organization first. Dave Packard won, but still decided on the name "Hewlett-Packard Company". Hewlett-Packard opened their company to the world in November… middle of the paper… days later, Hewlett-Packard was awarded the largest federal IT government project of all time. This is a $3.5 billion contract working for the US Navy on its communications systems. HP will be responsible for the Navy's communications systems through 2019, which includes more than 800,000 intranet users. Due to HP's success in doing what they are supposed to do in their government contracts, in 2013 they were awarded another contract with several large companies. The contract is for three years and 56 million dollars. HP's mandate is to implement application management services to provide comprehensive security authority to military personnel, Department of Defense employees and contractors. The latest contract I found was awarded to HP for about $548 million from the Department of Defense's DMDC. Hewlett-Packard must provide reliable, commercially available support services.
