Facing the dilemma that one of his hotel staff members (Okwe) found a human heart in one of his hotel rooms. Señor Juan doesn't seem worried and hides the hidden secrets of the Baltic hotel and his involvement. Yet instead he hands the phone to his employee to report it to the police. However, Señor Juan knows well that Okwe will not report the incident because Señor Juan wants to intimidate Okwe with questions about his identity. This later reveals the philosophy that Señor Juan carries with him where he states to Okwe that “the hotel business is about strangers and foreigners will always surprise you, they come to hotels at night to do dirty things and in the morning it is our job to make it look like things nice again.” This belief foreshadows the dirty things Señor Juan will face later when his illegal dealings come to a head.
