Is the Great Gatsby still great? In the summer of 1922 a young Nick Carraway moved from the quiet atmosphere of Minnesota after graduating from Yale to the bustling city of New York to pursue his new career in the bond industry. Having moved into a quaint cottage in West Egg, he is surrounded by people with endless wealth and luxury, including his mysterious neighbor Jay Gatsby who lives in one of the largest mansions in the new money area. Across the bay in East Egg, on a huge plot of land with a huge estate, live Nick's cousin Daisy and her husband Tom Buchanan. One evening, at dinner with the Buchanans, Nick meets Daisy's beautiful partner, Jordan Baker, who informs him of Tom's infidelities with a woman named Myrtle, from a poor area of the city called the Valley of Ashes. As the summer continues, Nick receives an unexpected invitation to a party at the mysterious Gatsby house. No one in the region really has any idea who Jay Gatsby is or how he earned mountains of money, but speculation constantly swirls about his extravagant celebrations that he hosts every weekend but never makes an appearance at. Jordan and Nick change that when they meet Gatsby in person as he asks to speak to Mrs. Baker in private where he divulges his deepest secrets about his long-time love for Daisy and how he wishes to reunite with her after their brief meeting in almost five years. Before. He proposes a plan to pass on to Nick so that he can invite his cousin to the cottage for a simple cup of tea, where Gatsby will then casually pay a visit. At the initially awkward meeting several days later, the love once felt by both parties involved is effectively rekindled and an intense, secret relationship ensues… mid-card… truly touching aspects of the plot .
