To determine whether to have a separate database from a data warehouse, you must first understand the differences between the two. A database is defined as an organized collection of data. Databases are created to manage large amounts of information by storing, retrieving, entering, and managing that information. Databases are set up so that a set of software programs provides all users with access to all data. A simple database is usually designed in normalized tables to minimize redundancy and optimize write operations to the table. This can be achieved by dividing large tables into smaller tables and less redundant tables, so that data of the same type is isolated in one place so that additions, deletions and modifications of a field can be made in just one table . The smaller tables are then linked together via relationships defined between them, resulting in numerous joins between tables during data retrieval. Data is often stored in separate systems, sometimes making it difficult to obtain certain information. To retrieve data from a database, you need to use a database management system (DBMS). Database management systems are designed applications that interact with the user, other applications, and the database itself to acquire and analyze data. Our coworkers come from many different parts of the states, and many of us work full-time jobs at different hours of the day.
