As I grew up and matured, my mother revealed how much I didn't know about what happened in the hospital. Dad had so many complications that I can't even explain, but in all these difficult times my mother almost never left his side. By observing his example, I truly learned the meaning of total, unconditional love. My parents also showed me how to stay strong even when I feel hopeless. My father was determined that this shipwreck would not limit him in life, and even today one would not know that such a horrible accident happened to such a strong man. Throughout this time our family has grown incredibly close to our faith, each other, and our community. Without our strong foundation in the church, I don't think Dad would have healed so amazingly. Because of this experience, I have so much love and respect for both of my parents that I will never have
