With the numerous scandals and problems plaguing the Philippine nation today, Gat Andres Bonifacio's 150th celebration could not have come at a better time. Documentaries and exhibitions on the Supremo are created once again to remember and commemorate other unsung heroes who fought for the independence of this country, and to remind them of the unjust portrayal and treatment of Boniface as the "Father of the Philippine Revolution" and the founder of the Kataastaasan, Kagalanggalangang Katipunan ng mga Anak ng Bayan (KKK). The commemoration of Andres Bonifacio's iconic image as both a hero and a revolutionary leader has been prevalent in Philippine society since time immemorial. It has become a constant symbol for Filipinos of their never-ending struggle against imperialism, oppression, censorship and corruption. Over the years, artists' depiction and recreation of iconic images of the 1898 Revolution and Gat Andres have produced works of art that would echo the oppression and trial of Filipinos as a nation. During the Marcos regime, figures and symbols of Filipinos fighting to destroy tyranny, dictatorship, and censorship were prominent. Today, society is bombarded with contemporary artworks of ordinary citizens fighting against the elites and politicians whose greed for wealth and power consumes them causing looting and looting. The “Alay sa Malayang Bayan” exhibition at the GT Toyota Asian Cultural Center and the “Bonifacio @ 150” at the Philippine Cultural Center both present works of rebellion and revolution in different perspectives. Some have created images of Andres Bonifacio as a modern Juan who continues to protest against the torments and wrongdoings of the government... middle of paper... keep in mind the responsibilities in creating certain images that serve to ignite the spark to within the nation to fight for the change they desire in their society. Furthermore, these images continue to be a constant reminder of a country's history and identity, and it is crucial that the stories behind these images are adequately disseminated and represented among the people to avoid misunderstandings and misinterpretations. Andres Bonifacio's love for the country, without a doubt knows no boundaries and his impact has spanned different periods and influenced different people. Furthermore, it has become a source of inspiration and motivation for Filipinos today that the struggle, despite freedom from former oppressors, continues. May the contributions and sacrifices of the Supreme constantly remind the country of the victorious revolution they have undertaken and the greatness of this nation.
