A Clockwork Orange Book Analysis The violent main character of this story, Alex, goes on a moral journey. It is written as a very direct personal account of events. Alex seems to describe things very well, but without emotion. He begins by drinking drug-laced milk at a dairy with his three "droogs". The current fashion is for teenagers to do what they want, since the victims of this "ultraviolence" are often negligent adults. After a night of dealing "cancer and bruises", robberies, gang fights with Billybob's group and rape of a woman, the boys return to Korova's Milk Bar. Dim insults Alex's beloved classical music, which prompts the alpha male to punch Dim. This gross abuse of power outrages the three "droogs" who agree to backstab Alex at Manse's job. The cat lady calls the police before being beaten to death by Alex, but Dim hits Alex in the eye with a chain, making him an easy target for the police to capture. Alex is arrested and sentenced to fourteen years behind bars. His sentence was shortened after two years...
