In this essay I will discuss my role in the Air Force. As a foundation, I will discuss how my values led me to choose the Air Force as a career choice. Additionally, I will highlight my personally significant experiences/assignments in the Air Force to date. Finally, I will cover what I consider my contributions to the Air Force on a “micro” and “macro” level. Starting in high school, I enjoyed many of the aspects the military had to offer. One thing that really attracted me to the military was equality. From my perspective, the military seemed like the most merit-based work environment. In the military, especially among the enlisted ranks, you know what you need to do to get promoted. I really liked this about the military. At the time, I didn't want my professional successes or failures to be determined by anyone's opinion. I wanted to be in control. This tied directly to one of my most important values: equality. Secondly, choosing the military gave me independence. Joining the military would mean having to leave the proverbial nest and start your own business. This connected to my values of responsibility and accountability. I would no longer depend on my family to take care of me. I would be completely responsible for my own livelihood. My life was in my hands. I liked this. Finally, in terms of values, the military offered me the opportunity to serve a greater purpose. It seems that during my adolescence I gravitated towards organizations that served the common good. For example, I was a boy scout, played sports in school, etc. For me there was nothing like being part of a team and giving it your all. It was great to see my contribution and that of my teammates manifest in success. In the end, my val...... middle of paper ......rmitory, hangar or dental clinic, often come to us. Without our analytics, our client would have a very difficult time competing for financing. In other examples, we also seek to improve the efficiency of bases by building tools to help them manage their civilian pay and reimbursement programs. In a small way, we provide a capability that is lacking at the base, both in terms of manpower and time; Big picture, our studies help decision makers at the top of the Air Force make fiscally sound decisions and reap the greatest benefits for the Air Force. To summarize, I shared how my personal values led me to join the Army and eventually become an Air Force officer. I've also highlighted my most personally significant assignments to date. Finally, I concluded this essay by discussing my contributions to the Air Force at both the “micro” and “marco” levels”.
