The Target Corporation formerly known as "The Dayton Dry Goods Company" is a major retail company founded in 1902 in Minneapolis, Minnesota by George Draper Dayton. It is ranked as the second largest discount retailer in the United States and number thirty-six on the Fortune 500 in 2013. The Target Corporation has served this nation with the best priced products possible since its expansion from "Dayton" and is continually winning the hearts of consumers with their dedication and service. A phenomenal merchandising and cross-channel strategy has enabled this upscale discounter to achieve its customer loyalty goal and deliver on its promise of “Expect More, Pay Less.” Target has three main retail divisions which consist of Mervyn's, Marshall Field's, and Target stores. Target stores are currently the second largest discount retailer in America behind Wal-Mart. Target has approximately 1,778 stores located in 47 states. The retailer distinguishes itself from competitors by selling trendy, high-end products at discounted prices. Products/Brands Target hosts a variety of well-known brands to offer a wide assortment of quality products for its customer base. Some of the most renowned brands would be leading companies such as Apple, Disney, Dyson, Fisher Price, and Johnson and Johnson. The stores offer a wide selection of products that includes everything from children's clothes to electronics and high-end furniture. People in the Company Target has many people driving the big retailer's success, but one of the most important people on that list would have to be President, Chairman of the Board and CEO Gregg W.
