The great Saint Augustine once said: “It was pride that transformed angels into devils; it is humility that makes men angels" (Enchiridion by Augustine chapter 27). Hubris “a large or foolish amount of pride or confidence.” This is a very important word in the play and for the characters. It appears in the show because it makes it more interesting in so many ways. Many conflicts are caused by arrogance. In some ways it is good to be proud, but too much pride can be harmful. In the play Antigone, Creon is the one who has the most pride. “All men are liable to err; but when a mistake has been made, he is no longer senseless or unhappy who heals the evil into which he has fallen and does not remain obstinate” (Sophocles 44). This quote talks about how all men make mistakes, but good men know when they are making one. When men realize that they are wrong, they would repair what they have done and if you don't, it means you are proud.
