A hero is a courageous, loving, devoted, and inspirational person. Oprah Winfrey displays all these qualities and is therefore a hero. Winfrey is a brilliant talk show host. She has been a philanthropist for many years and continues to inspire people around the world. She is known by so many people around the world for everything she has done. Winfrey uses her fame for the good of people, making her a true hero. Oprah Winfrey is a philanthropist who has done so much for so many different charities and people around the world. Jones said, “Ms. According to the Chicago Sun Times, Winfrey has given more than $50 million to charity, earning her a place in last year's prestigious Chronicle of Philanthropy as one of America's top donors” (Jones). This makes Winfrey a hero because she can donate $50 million to a charity and not really accept anything in return. Jones said, “Donations of clothes, books, a school are just the beginning of his philanthropy” (Jones). The contributions she makes to charities and people are the reasons why so many people respect her. She is so passionate about giving back to others struggling in life so they don't have to go through what she did growing up and that is amazing. Winfrey makes people aware of what is happening around the world and gives them the opportunity to help those in need. With everything she has done for different charities and people, she deserves to be recognized as a hero. Winfrey has accomplished so much and achieved so many things. Hankin stated, “Oprah received the Bob Hope Humanitarian Award at the 2002 Emmy Awards for services to television and film” (Hankin). Receiving this award shows how dedicated Winfrey is to her television show and how she wants to succeed in... middle of paper... accomplishing many things that have changed her life and the lives of many other people.
