Civil liberties and civil rights are linked to constitutional foundations through the fact that the Constitution is the basis for most if not all liberties granted to citizens. As mentioned above, the First Ten Amendments, also known as the Bill of Rights, outlines the fundamental freedoms and rights of every U.S. citizen. Civil liberties and civil rights also connect to interest groups because there are some interest groups out there like the NAACP whose sole purpose is to defend the liberties and rights of its members. Civil rights and liberties also connect to public policies because there are some laws that were created specifically for a civil rights issue such as the ADA or the Americans with Disabilities Act, created to ensure equality for disabled people.
