1. In most of these countries, does universal coverage provide the gold standard of care? What is the gold standard of care? The Gold Standard of care is a framework aimed at ensuring all patients have a good death; basically this is end of life care. There is no single gold standard; its admissibility and evaluation require multiple points of view. The gold standard has five goals: • Consistent high-quality care; • Alignment with patient preferences; • Advance planning and expectation of needs; • Greater self-confidence and teamwork among staff; • More home care, less hospital care (GSF) , 2010). Universal coverage is provided in almost all of these countries thanks to public and private funds. Insurance and private care would likely cover the gold standard because the patient will have chosen to pay more. Mainly this framework is used in the UK. (Reynolds, 2010)2. Does rationing happen in these countries and how does it differ from rationing in the United States? Yes, rationing happens in other countries. Countries with universal healthcare ration through controlled distribution such as the national budget, administrative setting of prices and provider fees, restrictions on certain services, or a combination of methods. The ration of the US healthcare system is about price and insurance coverage. US healthcare rationing has led to poor and low-income people being unable to receive any care, but it also means they may be able to get a different type of care within the healthcare system that treats people differently on the territory. based on whether and how much you can afford. In industrialized countries such as the UK, healthcare rationing should be considered the exception and not the rule....... middle of paper ......ent/uploads/2008/09/0312friedman.pdfHoffman, B (2013, January 18).
