In 2010, there were three female justices on the U.S. Supreme Court for the first time, but that same year, women working full time earned just 77 cents for every dollar a man earned. In 2009 there were more than 750 billionaires, but the unemployment rate was also the highest in thirty years. Young, educated Americans are more open to gays and lesbians than they were a few years earlier, but there are still huge numbers of people who oppose same-sex marriage. There are many more federal laws than ever to protect a person with a disability from employment discrimination, but nearly 26,000 employment discrimination claims were filed by people with disabilities in 2013, according to the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
