Topic > Analysis Of An Ideal Couple - 1199

When they saw each other for the first time they fell in love. Claudio explains to Bendick how he feels about Hero when he tells him, "I would not trust myself, though I swore to the contrary, if Hero were to become my wife" (1.1.191-192). Claudio explains to Mr. Benedick that Hero is a good lady. In the quote he is having a conversation with Mr. Benedick. Claudio says he swore he wouldn't get married either until he set his sights on Hero. She asks Mr. Benedick what he thinks of her and Mr. Benedick says that she is very "ugly" and that he doesn't like her. Claudio appears to be hopelessly in love with her when he tells Mr. Benedick, "In my eyes she is the sweetest woman I ever saw" (1.1.183.184). In this quote Claudio is explaining to Mr. Benedick how he thinks Hero in his eyes is the sweetest woman he has ever seen. She tells Mr. Benedick this when she tells Claudio that she doesn't see what Claudio sees in her. In my opinion Beatrice and Benedick have a much more satisfying relationship than Hero and Claudio because not only do they meet and have feelings for each other, but they argue but ultimately love each other. Their attitude towards love is much more understandable because they want to live their life and not be married to one person for the rest of their life.
