Hsiao-Shuang ChouALS 162 Comparative AnalysisIt was a long time ago, I remember the first time I saw the Aibo (Robot with Artificial Intelligence produced by Sony) in a shopping mall, I was thinking if it was possible to create a robotic dog. Wouldn't we have a robotic human or other types of animals in the future? Now, few humanoids have been created, also scientists are trying to improve the humanoid through different advancement systems and software. Although both Bruemmer and Richardson analyze the relationship between robot and human, Bruemmer uses a more logical and experimental approach for the audience, while Richardson focuses more on facts and motivation. According to "Humanoid Robotics: Ethical Considerations", David Bruemmer indicates that technology may help humans do many things, but will never replace humans. He claims that if people want robots to be more useful, they will have to put the motivation system into the robots. There are some significant dangers behind humanoids that will limit human interaction and people will spend more time interacting with machines. However, it is man who can decide in which direction the humanoid will develop. In the second article, "My Friend the Robot", Kathleen Richardson claims that robots will be the emotional support for humans in the future. Nowadays people can live longer, and the elderly population is constantly growing. There is a need for the elderly to have a robot that can take care of themselves, such as medical care, loneliness. Robots may have more advanced systems and software to reduce owner stress. Researchers haven't yet found the best way to make this happen. (Transition) Buremmer, who works at the Idaho National Laboratory. You understood well... the central part of the sheet... is able to show the average of the elderly. It also uses several historical fasts of humanoids such as Asimo, Perla, and Paro. He also makes readers feel like they have a connection to his ideas by asking questions like “worried about being all alone in your old age?” (2007) or his idea is about emotional and physical support for the elderly, which can lead the readers to think about their parents. On the one hand, Bruemmer's point of view about technology never replacing humans is a new thought for me. Furthermore, Bruemmer convinced me after reading his article. On the other hand, I think Richardson has an interesting idea about the bond of friendship between humanoids and humans. I would love to have a robot friend if it were possible in the future. I think people should believe that humanoids can be useful in the future, even if it's not obvious yet at the moment
