1. The film “Invictus” shows excellent examples of the characteristic leadership theory that Mandela described as president of South Africa. Mandela was able to influence the people of South Africa thanks to his characteristics as an outgoing leader and great integrity. According to the text, extroverts are sociable, assertive and energetic people. Mandela displayed the traits of an extroverted leader. Whenever he greeted people he always had a genuine smile and good intentions towards everyone he met. Even the people who worked for him, especially his security, were expected and required to always have a smile to represent a welcoming atmosphere. Mandela was a very sociable person, he made sure to go to all the rugby tournaments and had a very magnetic personality which he passed on to everyone he spoke to. At every rugby tournament Mandela went to shake hands with the players, wished them good luck and went into the stands to greet the fans watching the match. Mandela also led his country with great integrity. The text describes integrity as the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles. Mandela had strong beliefs and values, which is why he won South Africa's presidential election. Due to his strong integrity he was able to unite his country. There were many challenges along the way from people who didn't agree with his views or values, but that didn't stop him from leading his people. Mandela also lost his family because unfortunately they did not agree with his belief or accept what he was trying to accomplish. This shows that no matter who disagreed with Mandela's views, he did not let it affect his identity or the integrity of his goal of benefiting the country of South Africa. Mandela's leadership app... middle of paper..., which caused a conflict with the safety of black men already working for Mandela. This was one of Mandela's many attempts to unite the two races to demonstrate that there would no longer be any need to fear each other. As a servant leader, Mandela gave his people the power to change the country through their actions. For example, during Mandela's meeting with François, he made authoritative statements about what a leader is and what his role consists of. This eventually led to François becoming a more important leader for the rugby team, getting the team more involved with the country and its people (especially the children) and winning the world cup. Mandela's role as a servant leader was very effective. By putting his country before himself, he was able to realize his ultimate goal of bringing peace among the people of South Africa.
