Most of the time it's because of the clothing students wear to school. With the help of uniforms, students will not bully as they all wear the same thing. If you make fun of someone for what they wear, you are also making fun of yourself and your friends. Everyone wears the same uniform, so the bullying of people wearing different or "ugly" clothes goes away as they all wear the same clothes. “When all students are dressed the same, competition among students over clothing choices and teasing of those who wear less expensive or less fashionable clothing can be eliminated” (Procon). Having uniforms keeps everyone on the same level and reduces bullying. Since some families cannot afford expensive clothes, they will not worry about what their children will send to school or wonder if they will be teased. Bullying in schools mainly comes from their appearance. If others don't look like them, bullies will make fun of them for it. If they have clothes that don't fit, they make fun of it. If one of the students was wearing something the bully didn't like, this gives him another reason to make fun of him. With uniforms, students will be wearing the same things, so no one will look different from the other. “Approximately 160,000 children miss school every day for fear of attacks and/or intimidation by other students” (Morton). Children are afraid of their appearance knowing that if they go to school, they will be made fun of by some of the other children. They fear that if they don't wear the latest trends they will be made fun of and made to feel guilty about what they wear. Some students go to school in a new dress thinking they look good and some bully them and they never wear the dress they love again. By implementing uniforms, bullying would be eliminated and children would be empowered
